Ayodhya, Oct 19: This year’s Deepotsav celebrations in Ayodhya set two new Guinness World Records — with 26.17 lakh diyas (oil lamps) illuminated at one location and 2,128 people performing a collective aarti, the Uttar Pradesh government announced today.

According to a government statement, representatives from the Guinness Book of World Records verified the figures using drone technology before confirming the records.

UP Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh and Principal Secretary Amrit Abhijat handed over the official Guinness certificates to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Guinness World Records adjudicator Richard Stenning praised the spectacle, saying, “Today we witnessed an extraordinary display — 26,17,215 oil lamps, officially a Guinness World Record. Each year, this celebration grows grander. It’s an honour to be part of something so remarkable and truly spectacular.”

This achievement marks the ninth consecutive year that Ayodhya’s Deepotsav has entered the Guinness World Records. Conceived under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, the event has evolved into a global celebration of faith, unity, and devotion, symbolizing Ayodhya’s resurgence as the spiritual heart of India.
