Bhubaneswar, August 21: As many 1625 multi-purpose community centres have been constructed across the state during the last nine years, Panchayati Raj Minister Rani Narayan Naik informed Odisha Assembly.
The state government has sanctioned money for construction of 4338 community centres in all 314 blocks between 2015-16 and 2023-24 financial year. However, only 1625 community centres have been constructed so far and 2713 are under construction, the Minister said.
According to the data, highest 517 community centres were sanctioned for Ganjam district and 201 have been completed so far.
As many as 122 community centres have been completed in Cuttack out of 322 sanctioned. Similarly 119 have been completed in Jajpur while 131 are yet to be constructed.
In Angul, 119 yet to be completed out of 161 approved, followed by 110 out of 152 in Balangir, 134 out of 184 in Balasore, 114 out of 185 in Bargarh, 141 out of 193 in Bhadrak, 21 out of 46 in Boudh, 24 out of 39 in Debagarh, 116 out of 176 in Dhenkanal, 30 out of 61 Gajapati, 23 out of 43 in Jharsuguda, 36 out of 68 in Kalahandi, 35 out of 57 in Kandhamal, 119 out of 180 approved in Kendrapara.
Similarly, 78 community centres are yet to be constructed in Keonjhar district against 120 sanctioned, 142 out of 210 in Khordha, 52 out of 85 in Koraput, 20 out of 35 in Malkangiri, 83 out of 144 in Mayurbhanj, 72 out of 113 in Nabarangpur, 115 out of 198 in Nayagarh, 21 out 36 in Nuapada, 132 out of 230 in Puri, 106 out of 144 in Rayagada, 31 out of 52 in Sambalpur, 44 out of 84 in Sonepur and 48 out of 102 sanction for Sundargarh district are yet to be completed.
