Srinagar, March 2: Around 1,200 Kashmiri students are stranded in Iran amid escalating tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States. The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has urgently appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their safe evacuation.

Nasir Khuehami, the national convenor of the association, expressed concern over the safety of Indian students, particularly those from Kashmir, in light of recent military strikes involving Israeli forces. Speaking to ANI, he said, "The situation has escalated following Israeli airstrikes on Iran, and our citizens, especially Indian students, are feeling increasingly anxious."

Khuehami highlighted that out of approximately 3,000 Indian students in Iran, around 2,000 are from Kashmir. "Currently, between 1,100 and 1,200 students are still in Iran. They are seeking immediate evacuation. We have written a letter today urging the government to initiate a comprehensive evacuation operation to ensure their safe return," he added.

The association has called for the Indian government to engage in diplomatic discussions with Iranian authorities to address the situation and facilitate the swift evacuation of the students.
