Bhubaneswar, Feb 12: To curb land scams and enhance transparency in property transactions, the Odisha government has decided to introduce QR codes on all land pattas, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari announced on Thursday.

In collaboration with the Central government, the state will roll out QR code–enabled land documents as part of a major initiative to prevent land-related fraud. The Record of Rights (RoR) will carry a QR code that, when scanned, will provide instant access to comprehensive land details.

According to the Minister, this digital verification system will make land transactions more transparent and significantly reduce fraudulent activities. “Once the QR code is scanned, complete information about the land will be accessible. If any irregular transaction occurs, the concerned Tehsildar and Revenue Inspector will receive immediate alerts,” Pujari stated.

Highlighting broader land reforms, he also announced that a statewide land survey will be undertaken to assess both government and privately owned land. Additionally, a detailed database will be created to track land previously allotted by various government departments, including its present use, to strengthen land management and accountability across Odisha.
