143 acres land recorded back to Lord Lingaraj Temple Trust

Bhubaneswar, Sep 30: As many as 143 acres of land belonging to Lord Lingaraj Temple Trust have been recorded back in the temple trust. The lands were in different mouzas in Bhubaneswar and on the city outskirts. Member, Board of Revenue G V V Sarma on Thursday directed to record back the land to the temple trust after the final hearing of the case. The said 143 acres of land of Lord Lingaraj was identified in Kapilaprasad, Bhimapur, Sundarpada, Bhubaneswar, Goutam Nagar, Badagada, and Rajarani mouza under the Bhubaneswar tehsil. The lands were taken to government possession under the Orissa Estates Abolition (Amendment) Act, 1974. Then CEO of Lord Lingaraj Temple Trust, Jitendra Patnaik had filed a case before the Endowment Commissioner in 1991. The case was later sent to the court of Member, Board of Revenue.
