Rayagada, Dec 9: As many as 14 students from the Welfare School at Badaraisingi in Odisha’s Rayagada district walked nearly 25 kilometers on Saturday for the DM’s office to lodge their grievances.
They expressed their discontent against the HM before the SC& ST Minister, failing to meet the district Collector.
As per reports, the students scaled the boundary wall of their hostel in the wee hours and started walking for the DM’s office. They had complaints about their headmaster who allegedly neglects in taking care of the boarders of the hostel. The students also alleged that the Headmaster abuses them physically and embezzles the hostel funds, meant for the boarders.
However, they could not meet the Collector as it was the Second Saturday and the Collector was not present in the office. Following this, the students walked to the Circuit House where they met SC & ST Development Minister Jagannath Saraka.
Being informed of the inmates’ problems, Sarka assured them of a probe into the matter and advised the students to back to the hostel.
