1.31L e-challans issued in Bhubaneswar for traffic violations in 6 months

Bhubaneswar, Aug 7: The Commissionerate Police has issued over 1.31 lakh e-challans in Bhubaneswar for traffic violations during the last six months.

Out of as many as 1,31,837 e-challans issued for the traffic violation in the capital city of Odisha during the last six months. 25 percent of violations have been detected by CCTV cameras of the Traffic Violation Detection System (TVDS), according to Bhubaneswar traffic police data. Rest 75 percent have been detected by traffic police by capturing photos on mobile cameras.

The highest number of 26,848 e-challans was issued in April, 23,990 in May, and 23,508 in June. Similarly, 15,030 e-challans were issued in January, 20,686 in February and 21,775 in March.

Besides, fourteen enforcement teams were engaged for patrolling the city to penalize traffic violators in January followed by 16 teams in February, 17 teams in March, 15 teams in April, 19 teams in May, and 18 teams in June, the data revealed.
