Balangir, Apr 10: Normal life in Kantabanji locality of Odisha’s Balangir district was thrown out of gear after some local outfits called for a 12-hour bandh today opposing the construction of the new bus stand and demanding re-development of the existing bus stand.

The dawn-to-dusk bandh is being observed by the Kantabanji Nagar Committee and Samleswari Market Complex Committee.

According to the agitators, around 300 shopkeepers of Samleswari Market Complex, which is located near the old bus stand in Kantabanji, will run out of business after the construction of the new bus stand somewhere else.

Owing to the bandh which is being observed from 6 am to 6 pm today, government and private offices, banks, and business establishments remained closed.

However, educational institutions and emergency services have been exempted from the purview of the bandh.
