Boudh, June 26: In a major crackdown on illegal narcotics, the Manamunda Police in Odisha’s Boudh district seized 129 kilograms of ganja during a raid conducted early Thursday morning in the Tirchipada area under the jurisdiction of Sagada outpost.
Acting on credible intelligence regarding ongoing ganja smuggling operations, a police team led by IIC Anjali Bishwal launched the operation as part of the district-wide anti-ganja drive in Boudh. The team raided a secluded spot where they discovered three large sacks. Upon inspection, the sacks were found to contain a substantial quantity of ganja.
As the police approached, the smugglers reportedly fled the scene, evading arrest. The seized contraband was later weighed and confirmed to be 129 kg.
A case has been registered under Case No. 199 at the Manamunda Police Station. Police officials confirmed that further investigation is currently underway to trace the culprits and dismantle the network involved in the illegal trade.
