Raipur, Nov 29: Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted on Friday that Naxalism will be completely eradicated from India before the next all-India Director Generals of Police (DGsP)–Inspector Generals of Police (IGsP) conference. Shah made this strong statement during his address at the inaugural session of the three-day 60th DGsP/IGsP conference, which is being held in Raipur.

Shah highlighted the significant progress made in bolstering India's security infrastructure, emphasizing that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government has strengthened the security grid by constructing 586 fortified police stations over the last seven years. These initiatives have played a key role in reducing the number of Naxal-affected districts from 126 in 2014 to just 11 today.

In his address, Shah also pointed out that the government has provided permanent solutions to three longstanding national security challenges: Naxalism, the North-East insurgency, and the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed confidence that these regions will soon be fully integrated with the rest of the country, marking a new era of peace and stability.

The Home Minister also stressed the importance of strengthening intelligence capabilities, ensuring clarity of objectives, and fostering greater synergy between state and central forces. He directed state police forces to collaborate more closely with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to address the growing threats posed by drug trafficking and organized crime, both at the national and international levels.

Shah further emphasized the government's commitment to modernizing India's policing framework, noting several significant reforms, including the enhancement of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), updates to the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), and the introduction of three new criminal laws. He also pointed out that comprehensive legislation aimed at combating narcotics trafficking and fugitive offenders has been strengthened. Shah expressed optimism that the full implementation of these laws will place Indian policing among the most modern in the world.
