Puri, Jan 13: The Puri Badadanda (Grand Road) from Singhadwar to Sri Gundicha temple has been made encroachment- free. Now, 51 high mast lights have been installed on both sides of the stretch and 50 more lights will be put up for illumination.
The Odisha government has undertaken Badadanda heritage streetscape project under Augmentation of Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture (ABADHA) scheme at Puri.
The stretch from Singhadwar to Market Square has been made encroachment -free in the first phase for implementation of the streetscape project.
AC shed has been constructed from Marichikot Square to Srimandir Administrative Office to provide relief to devotees from the harsh weather.
Apart from seating arrangement inside the AC sheds, drinking water and toilet facilities have also been made available for the visitors.
Similarly, buildings on both sides of Badadanda have been painted uniform colour for beautification and all shops have the same nameplate.
