Sundergarh, Sept 19: At least 10 more Scrub Typhus positive cases were detected in Sundergarh district taking the total number of cases in the district to 193 today.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Public Health has sent a special team to Bargarh and Sundargarh. A Joint Director and an epidemiologist have also been sent to Bargarh district to investigate the alleged death of five people after getting infected by scrub typhus.
Worth mentioning, Scrub Typhus infection spreads through bites of infected chiggers (larval mites). The common symptoms of the disease include fever and a black inflamed mark on the skin called ‘eschar’. People who frequently visit farmland or forests are vulnerable to the infection
