Spinner praises Harmanpreet's side for sharing their historic glory with legends.

Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has made a powerful statement following the Indian Women's Cricket Team's historic World Cup victory. He highlighted a special gesture by Harmanpreet Kaur's team that he believes the men's team has never done.

What was this unique act? After winning the maiden ICC Women's ODI World Cup, the entire squad invited the legendary figures of Indian cricket—Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami, and Anjum Chopra—to join their celebration. The trio, who were present as commentators at the DY Patil Stadium, were seen lifting the trophy, dancing, and sharing tears of joy with the champions.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, R Ashwin praised this heartfelt tribute. He noted that while many teams talk about respecting past generations, the women's team showed genuine gratitude. "I actually take my hat off to the Indian women's team for that," Ashwin said. "The Indian men's team has never done something like this... I haven't often seen anyone giving true credit to the previous generation."

The moment was especially emotional for Jhulan Goswami. The legendary pacer, who retired in 2022, had chased this trophy her entire career. Seeing her finally hold the World Cup, surrounded by the victorious team, was a moving sight. The win by Harmanpreet Kaur's side finally ended the long wait and heartbreak from previous final losses in 2005 and 2017.

Jhulan later shared the emotional backstory. She revealed that the team had made a promise to her. "Last year, they came to my room at midnight and said... 'we’ll win it for you.' And finally, they did it," Goswami told Star Sports. Ashwin's words hit home because they highlighted this very spirit—a victory that was shared by all, past and present.
