Angul, March 23: In a tragic road mishap, one crushed to death under a coal laden truck in Angul on Monday.

The incident took place near the Balangi village under the Samal police limit.

The deceased has been identified as Sumanta Bhutia, a resident of Gondaberena village.

According to report, a coal- laden truck was carrying coal-load to a Kaniha-based plant. Meanwhile, the vehicle crashed a biker near the Balangi village who was dragged afar and crushed to death on the spot.

Following the incident, locals staged a protest on the road demanding sizeable ex-gratia for the deceased’s family.

On being informed, the Samal police reached the spot and took the situation under control.
