Balasore, Aug 7: Police on Monday arrested seven persons of a dacoity gang including the mastermind for their alleged involvement in Chandaneswar Union Bank robbery in the district.
Police have also seized 854-gram gold ornaments worth around Rs 49 lakh from their possession.
“A total of 14 persons from the gang were involved in this robbery. Earlier, we had arrested 6 persons in this connection and seized around 300 grams of looted jewelry, 6.02 lakh cash, 4 bikes, nine mobiles and three pistols from them. Most of them have been identified as the residents of Chabbis Pargana of West Bengal," said Balasore SP Sagarika Nath in a press conference.
Worth mentioning, on April 26, miscreants looted about Rs 40 lakh along with 600 packets of gold when customers along with the staff were inside the bank in Chandaneswar area within Talsari marine police limits.
On the basis of a complaint lodged by bank manager Nawneet Khalko with Talsari police station, police started an investigation by checking CCTV footage and arrested six persons in this connection.
