Bhubaneswar, July 26: The disturbing incident in Puri's Balanga area, where a minor girl was allegedly set on fire, continues to remain shrouded in mystery. In a significant development, the Crime Branch today visited the scene of the crime to carry forward its investigation.

This visit follows the crucial statement given by the victim at AIIMS Delhi, where she is currently undergoing treatment. Her statement, recorded on Friday, was taken in the presence of a magistrate and medical professionals, with a family member also present. The entire process was documented through video recording.

As part of its probe, the Crime Branch has also recorded the statements of the victim’s relatives, which officials believe could provide vital leads in the case.

Based on the victim’s testimony, investigators are hopeful of making a breakthrough and identifying those responsible for the brutal attack that took place in broad daylight on July 19 within the Balanga police station limits.
