Odisha govt plans to build 50,000 houses in urban area, says H&UD Minister

Bhubaneswar, August 13: The Odisha government has planned to construct over 50,000 affordable houses in urban areas, said Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Minister of  Housing and Urban Development 

This initiative aims to address the housing needs in various districts, with each district set to receive 1,000 new dwelling units.

 The Odisha State Housing Board (OSHB) will acquire 520 acres of land across districts such as Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, and Kendrapara for this purpose.

 The OSHB, which currently operates in 21 districts, has already developed 32,343 houses and plots in urban areas. 

In Bhubaneswar alone, around 20,000 houses have been built in areas like Patia, Kanan Vihar, Chandrasekharpur, VSS Nagar, Satya Nagar, Bhimtangi, Baramunda, Maitri Vihar, and Sailashree Vihar1.

 

This ambitious project is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to provide affordable housing and improve living conditions for its residents.
