G. Udayagiri, Dec 10: A truck collided with a hill after breaking through a guard wall, leaving three people seriously injured. The incident occurred at Kalinga Ghat.

According to local reports, two of the injured individuals were immediately taken to the nearest medical facility for treatment. Meanwhile, the third person was trapped in the wreckage for over three hours before being rescued by a team of workers and sent to the medical center in G. Udayagiri.

The truck, which was on its way to deliver goods for a rice mill, was reportedly traveling on the national highway when it suddenly veered off course and crashed into the hill after breaking the guard wall. Emergency services, including local police from G.Udayagiri, immediately reached the spot and began their investigation.

Sources also revealed that the National Highway Division and the National Institute of Technology (NIT) from Bhubaneswar had deployed sensors and horns at the accident spot in an effort to prevent such incidents in the future.

The incident has raised concerns about road safety and the condition of the guard walls in the region. Authorities have promised to review the safety measures on this stretch of road to prevent further accidents.

Kalinga Ghat has a history of such accidents, with safety concerns being raised time and again. Local officials have promised to look into improving road safety measures and prevent further incidents in the future.

Worth mentioning, in such similar incident at Kalinga Ghat, a passenger bus had overturned on Nov 7, injuring all 15 people aboard. The bus, which was traveling from Bargarh to Berhampur, lost control while navigating the winding road of Kalinga Ghat and flipped over.
