Bhubaneswar, Nov 22: While the Home Ministry is aiming a Naxal free India and working on the mission, the Odisha government is all set to end Left Wing(LW) activities from its estates.

The Odisha Police resolves to intensify anti-Naxal drive in the Mao-prone Boudh & Kandhamal districts, to make Odisha Maoist free by March 2026.

With it, the state’s Home Department aims to eliminate as many as 87 Maoists, who are on the prowl in the deep forests.

According to reports, the Odisha Police is going to initiate a massive combing operation in Boudh, Kandhamal and Phulbani forests, to hunt down the Maoists, hiding out here.

The DGP YB Khurania is currently on a two-day tour to Kandhamal and Boudh to assess the ongoing operations. After visiting Boudh on Friday, he reached Phulbani today, accompanied by IG (Operations) Sanjeeb Panda, DIG Akhileshwar Singh, and South Range IG Neeti Shekhar.

The DGP while responding to reporters said, this time crackdown on the Maoists and sympathizers will be violent. However, he said that surrender policy is open for them, who will opt for laying down their arms.

Underlining the surrender policy for the Maoists, DGP Khurania said, “We have a robust surrender policy. Those who surrender before the police will receive all benefits and support for rehabilitation as outlined in the policy,” he said.
