Puri, Oct 26: The sailor who had reportedly gone missing after falling down from the boat in Chilika lake yesterday, found dead.
The deceased sailor has been identified as Bikram Jali, a resident of Balabhadrapur village near Satapada.
Locals spotted the body floating in the lake this morning. On being informed by them, Fire Services personnel reached the spot and fished out the body.
Sources said, Bikram was ferrying as many as five visitors on his motor boat for sightseeing in the Chilika Lake in the afternoon. Meanwhile, the propelling engine went defunct near the Magarmukh bit of the lake. As a result the sailor accidentally fell off the boat whereas the visitors were stranded in the water. Luckily some sailors, being aware of the incident, rushed to the spot and rescued the visitors with their boats. At the same time, the locals initiated a search operation for Bikram.
