Bhubanewar, Nov 8: Odisha Assembly Deputy Speaker Rajanikanth Singh on Wednesday resigned from the post on ‘Personal grounds’. Singh has submitted his resignation to Speaker Pramila Mallik at the Odisha Assembly.
Singh, a member of the Odisha Assembly since 2004 and has been serving as the Deputy Speaker since June 2019. A four times MLA, Singh represents the Angul Assembly Constituency in the House. Prior to becoming the Deputy Speaker, he served as the Minister for Mines from 2012 to 2014.
Speaking to the media, Singh said, “I resigned from the post to work for the people of my constituency as I was unable to participate in party activities as a Deputy Speaker of the House. It was a pending decision. However, I will work for the party and organization”.
