Bhubaneswar, Feb 11: With Mahashivaratri just four days away, preparations for the grand Jagar Yatra of Lord Lingaraj have gathered pace. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday held a high-level meeting with temple servitors and administrative officials at Lok Seva Bhavan to ensure smooth and disciplined observance of the festival.

The meeting was attended by presidents of various Nijogs of the Lingaraj Temple, including Brahmin Nijog, Badu Nijog, Samartha Nijog and Pujapanda Nijog. The Chief Minister discussed arrangements to maintain order and streamline rituals during the major religious event.

Following the meeting, Brahmin Nijog president Bhagirathi Mahasuara informed that it has been decided to raise the sacred Mahadeep at the scheduled time of 10 PM on Mahashivaratri. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for discipline and proper coordination among servitors and officials.

Ekamra MLA Babu Singh said that the number of entry passes will be reduced this year to manage the crowd effectively. While 1,750 passes were issued last year, only 1,000 to 1,200 passes will be distributed this time.

To avoid any untoward incidents during the Mahadeep ritual, authorities have decided to restrict the number of servitors present at the time of the ceremony. Only those essential for performing the ritual will be allowed inside. Coordination with various line departments has also been planned to ensure seamless arrangements.

The Mahadeep will be raised at 10 PM as scheduled, after which the rituals will proceed as per tradition. Discussions during the meeting focused on ensuring that the festival is conducted peacefully and without disruption.
