Bhawanipatna, Nov 16: In a shocking incident, a man sustained critical burn injuries after the person whom he had lent some money, set him on fire in Bhawanipatna in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Wednesday.
The victim, who has been identified as Ranjan Padhi, is undergoing treatment in Burla Medical. His condition is stated to be critical.
According to the information, a person of the same locality had borrowed Rs 2 Lakh from Padhi. Padhi had repeatedly asked him to repay the money, however, he did not pay any heed.
On Wednesday, the borrower called Padhi outside on the pretext of returning money and took him to a place near Khariar. Instead of returning cash, he poured petrol on him and set him on fire.
Padhi was rescued by the locals in a half burnt condition and rushed to Govt HeadQuarters Hospital in Bhawanipatna then shifted to Burla as his condition worsened.
