Bhubaneswar, Sept 4: Commissionerate police on Monday busted a black jacket gang and arrested four persons in connection of series of snatching cases in Bhubaneswar. Police have also seized gold jewelleries weighing 400 gram and 3 bikes from their possession.
The arrested accused have been identified as Santosh, Bulu Nayak, Sarbeswar of Khordha and Nayagarh.
According to the information, following several gold snatching incidents in several areas of the capital city, police conducted a raid and arrested four of the gang. The looters used to wear black jackets and hide the number plates of the bike with black tape. The modus operandi of the culprits to snatch gold chains from women and girls. The looters used speed bikes to avoid being caught by the police.
“The police were on a look out for the gang after several complaints of chain snatching lodged from several areas of Bhubaneswar.On the basis of reliable information and tracking, police on Monday conducted a raid and arrested 4 persons of the gang. While the four have been identified as the residents of Khordha and Nayagarh, they were active in snatching cases in the capital city. Gold chains weighing 400 grams have been seized from them. Further investigations are on to ascertain more details in this regard”, said Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh.
