Sambalpur, Dec 24: Two students of Bhima Bhoi College were killed in a motorcycle accident near the Haldighat Bridge on the Rairakhol–Naktideul road in Sambalpur district on Wednesday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Badal Binjhal of Ram Badmal village under Kayakud panchayat in Jujumura block, and Thakur Dehuri of Nuapada under Charmal police limits.

According to reports, three +2 second-year Arts students of Bhima Bhoi College—Satyabrata Dehuri and Thakur Dehuri of Nuapada village, and Badal Binjhal of Ram Badmal village—were returning after appearing for their college examination. While travelling on a single motorcycle towards Naktideula, the bike reportedly lost control due to high speed near a curve close to the Haldighat bridge and crashed into a roadside barrier, leading to the accident.

All three sustained serious injuries. Local residents rushed them to Rairakhol hospital for treatment. Doctors declared Badal Binjhal dead on arrival, while Thakur Dehuri succumbed to his injuries on the way to Burla during referral. The third student, Satyabrata Dehuri, is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

On receiving information, the police reached the spot and have initiated an investigation into the incident.
