Bhubaneswar, November 22: Odisha Vigilance has apprehended Manoranjan Sahoo, a former Senior Clerk at the Hindol Sub-Treasury in Dhenkanal district, in connection with the misappropriation of Rs 68.85 lakh intended for family pension beneficiaries.
Sahoo, who had been evading arrest for nearly two years, was finally caught late on Friday night by the Vigilance team.
According to the report, Sahoo is accused of diverting a total of Rs 68,85,497 by illegally drawing government funds over an extended period. Rather than disbursing pension payments to the eligible recipients, Sahoo allegedly transferred the money into his own bank account and those of his relatives, systematically siphoning off public funds.
The case has been filed at the Cuttack Vigilance Police Station under the Prevention of Corruption Act and relevant anti-corruption statutes.
The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge.
