Puri, January 9: A young man was brutally murdered with a knife near Chaitanya Chowk, Puri, late Thursday night. The deceased has been identified as Ranjan Kumar Das of Banta village, Bhadrak district.

According to reports, Ranjan had come to Puri to attend the funeral of a relative. After leaving Swargadwar, he got into a dispute with another young man, which escalated into a violent attack. Ranjan was stabbed and died on the spot.

Another young man accompanying Ranjan, identified as Manas Ranjan Nayak, was also attacked but survived with injuries.

The Puri Coast Police reached the scene and have initiated an investigation. Ranjan’s body has been sent to Puri Hospital for post-mortem. Authorities are yet to apprehend the suspects.
