Malkangiri, Feb 3: Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday apprehended a Junior Engineer of TPSODL, Malkangiri, and his associate while allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 for providing an electricity connection to a brick factory.

The accused have been identified as Sri Pradesh Prasad Nayak, Junior Engineer, TPSODL, Malkangiri, and Sri Bhanjakishor Swain, a private individual. According to Vigilance sources, the duo was caught red-handed near the main gate of the TPSODL office while receiving the bribe amount from the brick factory owner.

The entire tainted bribe money of ₹20,000 was recovered and seized from the possession of the accused during the trap operation conducted earlier today, i.e., February 3, 2026.

Following the arrest, Odisha Vigilance teams have launched simultaneous searches at two locations linked to Sri Nayak from a disproportionate assets (DA) angle.

In this connection, Koraput Vigilance Police Station Case No. 01/2026 has been registered against both accused under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigation is underway.
