Expect cooler nights before daytime heat increases across Odisha

Residents of Odisha should prepare for shifting climate patterns over the coming week. Recent data from the regional Meteorological Centre highlights a clear transition from wet conditions to an upcoming prolonged dry spell.

Nighttime Cooling Expected Soon

Over the next 48 hours, citizens will experience noticeably cooler nights. Official projections indicate a dip of 2-3°C in minimum temperatures across multiple districts. Following this brief drop, night conditions will stabilize with no significant fluctuations expected for the remainder of the week.

Daytime Heat Set to Rise

While evenings become slightly chilly, daytime weather will remain steady for about three days. Afterward, maximum temperatures are projected to climb gradually by 2-3°C. Paralakhemundi recently recorded the state's highest maximum at 36.6°C, serving as a strong reminder of the approaching summer heat. Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar reached a warm maximum of 32.6°C, and neighboring Cuttack recorded 30.8°C.

Recent Rainfall and Dry Days Ahead

Significant showers recently soaked several areas, providing a brief but heavy wet phase. Polsara in the Ganjam district received a massive downpour of 53.4 mm. The capital city, Bhubaneswar, also saw substantial rainfall measuring 32.2 mm, while Banki in Cuttack recorded 31.0 mm. Other notable areas included Ghasipura with 24.2 mm and Bahalda logging 15.0 mm. Despite this recent 106% excess in state cumulative rainfall, this wet window is officially closing. Meteorologists confidently predict entirely dry weather for the next seven consecutive days, extending into early March. Fortunately, authorities have issued zero severe weather warnings for this upcoming period.

Notable Regional Temperature Extremes

Hill stations continue to record the lowest figures statewide, with Similiguda dropping to a chilly 13.2°C. Down in the plains, Rourkela registered the lowest minimum at a cool 14.6°C. By checking the latest Odisha weather forecast regularly, locals can easily navigate these rapid regional shifts from unseasonal rain to rising summer heat.
