Prime Minister Invokes Adidev Mahadev for Nation's Well-being

Lord Shiva invoked for spiritual strength and national unity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to citizens on Sunday with warm wishes on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri. Addressing the nation through a post on social media platform 'X', the Prime Minister termed citizens as his "family members" while praying for their health and prosperity.

In his heartfelt message, PM Modi invoked the blessings of Adidev Mahadev. He expressed hope that the divine grace of Lord Shiva would remain upon everyone, bringing spiritual strength to the country. He emphasized his desire to see Bharatvarsh enthroned at the peak of prosperity through these divine blessings.

Celebrating the Divine Union

Mahashivratri is observed with immense devotion across the country to mark the sacred wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. According to mythology, this day celebrates the convergence of Shiva and Shakti, representing the epitome of love and power. Devotees observe strict fasts and participate in night-long vigils, known locally in many regions including Odisha as 'Jagara', to seek the deity's favor.

Devotees Throng Holy Sites

Massive gatherings were reported at major spiritual centers. In Prayagraj, the administration recorded a huge influx of pilgrims for the Magh Mela 2026. Officials noted that this festival marks the final 'snan parv' (bathing festival) of the mela. Nearly 10 lakh people have already taken the holy dip at the Sangam ghats, seeking spiritual cleansing.

Security remains tight to ensure safety. Uttar Pradesh ATS mobile patrol squads are actively monitoring the situation as crowds continue to swell.

Prayers Across the Nation

Beyond the Sangam, temples nationwide witnessed overwhelming turnouts. The Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi saw lines forming before dawn. Similarly, Union Minister Nityanand Rai offered prayers at the Pataleshwar Temple in Hajipur. From the Mini Somnath Temple in Ahmedabad to the Nageshwarnath Temple in Ayodhya, Aarti ceremonies and chants of "Har Har Mahadev" resonated throughout the day, uniting the country in a spirit of reverence.
