Jajpur Man Dies Following Treatment at Local Medicine Store

A 50-year-old man's death has sparked tension and a police investigation in Odisha's Jajpur district. Kasinath Malik, a resident of Barada village, passed away on Wednesday night after allegedly receiving incorrect injections from a local medicine store owner. The incident has raised serious questions about unqualified individuals providing medical treatment.

Treatment for Cold Leads to Tragedy

According to sources, Kasinath Malik was suffering from a common cold and fever. His family took him to a medicine shop located at Chadheidhara chowk on Wednesday afternoon seeking relief. The owner of the store reportedly administered two injections and provided some oral medications to Malik.

After returning home, Malik's condition took a drastic turn for the worse later that night. He complained of severe breathing difficulties and dizziness. He was rushed to the Dharmasala community health centre, but doctors there declared him dead upon arrival.

Family Alleges Negligence Police Investigate

Following the death, Kasinath’s son, Gyanranjan Malik, filed a formal complaint with the Jenapur police. He alleged that the medicine store owner was directly responsible for his father's death. Gyanranjan stated that the injections and tablets were given without any doctor's prescription, leading to the fatal outcome.

Based on this complaint, the police registered a case on Thursday and began an investigation. The investigating officer confirmed that they have seized the syringes and injection bottles used in the treatment. They are now awaiting the postmortem report to determine the exact cause of death. The body has been sent for autopsy as the probe continues into the alleged medical negligence.
