Bhubaneswar, November 5: The Odisha Government has approved an increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy by Rs 69 per quintal for the for Kharif Marketing Season 2025-26 commencing from November 1. This raises the MSP for common paddy to Rs 2,369 per quintal and for Grade A paddy to Rs 2,389 per quintal.

While the Central Government has fixed the MSP at Rs 2,369 per quintal, Odisha Government is providing an input subsidy of Rs 800 on paddy per quintal. With the Rs 69 hike, now, the State Government will pay Rs 3,169 per quintal.

State Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department has issued a notification to this effect notifying the MSP.

In May this year, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the increase in the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for 14 Kharif Crops for Marketing Season 2025-26, including the MSP for paddy by Rs 69 per quintal, to ensure remunerative prices to the growers for their produce. These adjustments are part of the Central Government’s broader effort to support agricultural incomes and reduce rural distress.

The MSP serves as a safety net for farmers, ensuring that they get a minimum price for their produce, even if market prices collapse.
