Bhubaneswar, March 2: Railway Protection Force (RPF) Director General (DG) Sonali Mishra held a comprehensive review meeting with senior officials of East Coast Railway at Rail Sadan on Monday here.
According to an ECoR official, the meeting focused on strengthening railway security, enhancing passenger safety measures, improving crowd control mechanisms, and reinforcing inter departmental coordination to ensure seamless and secure train operations across the Zone. Safety of passengers on tracks, prevention of trespassing, and measures to curb unsafe practices such as crossing railway lines were also reviewed in detail.
Special emphasis was laid on adopting a proactive, sensitive, and passenger friendly approach to security management, with particular attention to the safety and dignity of women, children, senior citizens, and other vulnerable groups. The Director General reviewed arrangements related to crowd management during peak hours and festive seasons, deployment of RPF personnel at sensitive locations, and effective monitoring of station premises and circulating areas.
During the interaction, Mishra underscored the importance of building public trust through alertness, professionalism, and swift response. She stressed that passenger security must be visible, approachable, and reassuring so that every traveller feels safe not only inside trains but also at stations, platforms, circulating areas, and trackside zones.
Officials were encouraged to sensitise field staff towards courteous behaviour, prompt grievance redressal, and effective use of modern surveillance systems and technology for prevention and detection of crime. The importance of continuous patrolling to prevent accidents and ensure track safety was also highlighted.
The deliberations reaffirmed that passenger centric security goes beyond enforcement and includes empathy, accessibility, constant vigilance, and effective crowd regulation.
Reiterating its dedication to safe and people focused rail services, East Coast Railway assured full cooperation with RPF in further strengthening security systems and ensuring a secure, reliable, and confidence inspiring travel experience for every passenger.
