Bhubaneswar, Feb 16: As a constitutional formality, an all-party meeting was held in Odisha on Monday ahead of the Budget Session, scheduled on Tuesday.

Speaker of the Odisha Assembly, Surama Padhy chaired the all-party meeting wherein she sought the cooperation of the opposition parties, for healthy proceedings on the floor.

The Budget session that’s going to begin tomorrow will continue till April 8, with a recess from February 25 to March 8.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, his deputy K V Singh Deo, BJD deputy leader in the House, Prasanna Acharya, and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Rama Chandra Kadam, BJD Chief Whip Pramila Mallik were among the attendees.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Padhy said Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati will address the House on Tuesday, while a discussion on the motion of thanks on his address will be held for two days, on February 18 and 19.

The annual Budget for the Fiscal 2026-27 will be presented on February 20, and the two-day general discussion on the Budget will be held on February 23 and 24.

Similarly,the Appropriation Bill will be tabled on March 31, the Speaker said.

After the recess, standing committees will submit their reports before the House on March 9, she added.

Padhy said three days have been earmarked for government business while the same number of days has been given for private members’ business during the Session.

On the other hand, BJD Chief Whip Pramila Mallik, said, “The BJD, as the prime opposition will raise several key issues in the House. However, the slew of agendas will be vividly discussed in a party meeting soon.”

Congress Legislator Kadam said the party will plead its stance in the House to ask the Speaker to respect the chair and remain impartial in resolving the rightful issues. However he said, the precise roadmap of the party will be resolved in the CLP meeting today.
