Rourkela, Nov 6: In another incident of self-immolation bid, a college girl in Odisha’s Rourkela has charred herself on Saturday pouring petrol on her body.
The girl with critical burn injuries has been admitted to the IGH, Rourkela for resuscitation.
The victim is reportedly a +3 student who hails from the Lanjiberna village under the Rajgangpur block, said sources.
According to reports, the girl sprinkled petrol on her body in the wee hours of Friday.Family members rescued from the flames in a critical condition and rushed her to the IGH for treatment.
She is undergoing treatment in the dedicated burn unit of the hospital. Her condition is stated to be critical.
Police, after receiving a memo on the matter visited the hospital and recorded the victim’s statement.
The reason behind the incident is under investigation.
The statement of police regarding the matter is yet awaited.
