Balasore, Dec 6: A fire broke out early Saturday morning at the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital, damaging a housekeeping storeroom before quick action from fire officials brought the blaze under control. The fire, which authorities suspect was caused by an electrical short circuit, occurred in the early hours when local shopkeepers and residents noticed smoke rising from the medical housekeeping section of the hospital.

Upon receiving the alert, hospital authorities immediately contacted the fire brigade, which then rushed to the scene. They were able to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the hospital. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The affected storeroom was used to store sanitation and cleaning materials, many of which are highly flammable, which contributed to the intensity of the flames. While a significant amount of materials was destroyed in the fire, the damage was limited to this single area. Preliminary investigations suggest that an electrical short circuit may have been the cause of the fire.

The storeroom was reportedly used by a hospital employee who resides on-site, but the individual was not present at the time of the incident, preventing potential injury. A full assessment of the losses is currently underway.

Hospital and fire department officials have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and ensure that all safety protocols were followed.
