Bhubaneswar, Nov 12: Five districts from Odisha will be honored with the prestigious Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari (JSJB) Awards 2025 by President Droupadi Murmu. The award ceremony will take place at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on November 18.

The Ministry of Jal Shakti has announced the awards to recognize outstanding performers under the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari 1.0 (JSJB) initiative, a key community-driven program under the Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain (JSA: CTR) campaign.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Jal Shakti, the districts of Ganjam, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Cuttack, and Mayurbhanj will receive awards in Category 3 for their exceptional contributions to water conservation and groundwater recharge efforts as part of the JSA: CTR initiative.

Each of the award-winning districts will receive a financial incentive of Rs 25 lakh in recognition of their significant role in promoting water conservation and rejuvenation.

The Ministry's release also mentioned that top-performing districts in Category 1 will receive Rs 2 crore each, while districts in Category 2 will receive Rs 1 crore. Districts in Category 3, like those from Odisha, will be awarded Rs 25 lakh each. In addition, each award includes a citation signed by the Secretary of the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation.

A total of 100 awards are being presented this year, including those for three top-performing states, 67 districts, six municipal corporations, one urban local body (ULB), two partner ministries or departments, two industries, three NGOs, two philanthropists, and 14 nodal officers. Award winners were selected based on verified data submitted to the JSJB portal.
