Bhubaneswar, March 4: Senior leader Dilip Ray, who is set to independently contest the upcoming Rajya Sabha election, made a visit to veteran leader Bijoy Mohapatra's residence on Wednesday, sparking political speculation in Odisha.

This visit comes shortly after Dilip Ray's announcement as an Independent candidate for the Rajya Sabha, which has triggered a flurry of political commentary and conjecture throughout the state. His meeting with Bijoy Mohapatra, a well-known figure in Odisha politics, has only fueled further discussion.

However, Arvind Mohapatra quickly sought to quash any political rumors, clarifying that the visit was entirely social in nature. He emphasized that the meeting was a simple gesture of extending Holi greetings, owing to the long-standing familial bond between the two.

Arvind Mohapatra said, “Dilip Ray visits us every year during Holi. There were no political discussions or talks about the Rajya Sabha seat. We spent time celebrating Holi as part of our family tradition. The nomination process for the Rajya Sabha is scheduled for March 5, and we will see how things unfold on March 6.”

Arvind Mohapatra reiterated that the visit was purely a social occasion and should not be seen as linked to any political maneuvering.

The unfolding of the Rajya Sabha election on March 16 will likely reveal the final political dynamics, but for now, the focus remains on the personal connections that continue to shape the political discourse in the state.Bottom of Form
