Experience the Rs 10 lakh-a-night luxury awaiting the Russian President

New Delhi is rolling out the red carpet as Russian President Vladimir Putin arrives for a significant diplomatic tour. While the political agenda is packed with high-level meetings, the hospitality arrangements are making headlines of their own. The Russian leader has checked into one of the capital's most prestigious addresses, the ITC Maurya on Sardar Patel Marg.

The Rs 10 Lakh-a-Night Experience

Putin is residing in the hotel’s crown jewel, the 'Chanakya' Presidential Suite. This isn't just a room; it is a sprawling 4,600-square-foot residence designed to showcase the best of Indian heritage blended with modern opulence. Reports suggest that a single night in this ultra-exclusive suite costs between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 10 lakh.

The suite is a visual spectacle. It features a private reception, a massive living area, and a dedicated study for official business. The decor is heavily influenced by Indian aesthetics, boasting silk-panelled walls, rich dark wood flooring, and priceless artwork, including masterpieces by Tyeb Mehta. One of the highlights is the twelve-seater private dining room, which is designed with a stunning peacock theme.

Guests in the Chanakya suite are treated to the finest details. Meals are served on premium Villeroy and Boch crockery, accompanied by Cristal De Paris glassware. For relaxation, the suite includes a mini spa, a private gym, and a luxurious bathroom finished with mother-of-pearl accents. A dedicated butler is on standby 24/7 to ensure the President’s comfort.

A Hub for Global Power Players

The ITC Maurya has a long history of hosting the world's most powerful figures. Before Putin, the hotel served as the home-away-from-home for US Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump. Other dignitaries like the Dalai Lama and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair have also enjoyed the hotel's hospitality.

The Diplomatic Agenda

While the stay is luxurious, Putin’s schedule is tight. His itinerary spans roughly 27 hours, kicking off with a private dinner hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence. The visit will feature the 23rd India-Russia Summit and conclude with a State banquet at Rashtrapati Bhavan hosted by President Droupadi Murmu, solidifying the long-standing bond between the two nations.
