New Delhi, February 23: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday commended the technological strides made in India's education system, particularly with the launch of the 'Teacher App 2.0.' The app, developed by Bharti Airtel in collaboration with the CK-12 Foundation, a global philanthropic organization, was unveiled earlier today.

In a press interaction, Pradhan expressed optimism about the future of AI in education, referencing the recent launch of two large language models (LLMs), BharatGen and Sarvam, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the AI Impact Summit 2026. He emphasized that the integration of similar AI-driven features into the Teacher App 2.0 was a key development he hoped to see in the near future.

"India's education system is gradually embracing AI across various facets," said Pradhan. "Today, we take a significant step forward as Bharti Airtel, in collaboration with the CK-12 Foundation, introduces this new Teachers App. My expectation is that AI capabilities will soon be incorporated into India's very own large language model. With the launch of BharatGen and Sarvam at the AI Impact Summit, we are advancing in governance and operational efficiency in our educational institutions."

The Union Minister further stressed the importance of improving governance models for schools and colleges, underscoring the need for innovation and efficiency in educational administration.

Earlier this week, Pradhan had highlighted the government's priority to incorporate AI into the education sector, emphasizing that empowering India's youth with AI-driven education is a national imperative. Speaking at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, he reiterated that providing AI-enabled educational tools to the next generation was now a key responsibility of the government.

"It is our duty to provide AI-powered education to India's future generations," Pradhan stated. "The Prime Minister’s AI Impact Summit serves as an inspiration for the youth, encouraging them to engage with AI’s potential. Strengthening our students, schools, and teachers through AI is a key focus for the government."
