Bhubaneswar, Jan 29: In a major decision taken at the Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) meeting chaired by Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, it was decided to increase the number of ICU beds at Capital Hospital from 16 to 40 to strengthen critical care services.

The move is aimed at addressing long-standing infrastructure gaps and improving access to advanced healthcare facilities for patients. During the meeting, the MP held detailed discussions with hospital authorities and directed them to ensure that the ICU expansion is implemented at the earliest.

The RKS also decided to expedite the recruitment of faculty members to support postgraduate medical courses currently being conducted at the hospital. In another significant decision, nearly 150 fourth-grade employees who have been working on a contractual basis for several years will be regularized.

The meeting was attended by Capital Hospital Director and Medical Superintendent, Bhubaneswar MLA, Mayor, members of the RKS committee, and senior officials from the Works and WATCO departments. Discussions during the meeting focused on improving patient care and further strengthening healthcare services at Capital Hospital.
