This spiritual album celebrates the Mahakumbha's message of global unity.

A wave of excitement is sweeping the Indian music industry as "Sounds of Kumbha" has secured a prestigious nomination for the 68th Grammy Awards. The spiritual album, presented by singer-composer Siddhant Bhatia, is competing in the Best Global Music Album category. This recognition brings the unique spiritual essence of India's Mahakumbha festival to the world's most prominent music stage.

The album is described as a "sonic memoir" of the massive religious gathering in Prayagraj. Commissioned by the Uttar Pradesh government as a cultural initiative, "Sounds of Kumbha" was produced in partnership with Network18 and HistoryTV18. Universal Music India is handling its global distribution. The project successfully captures the profound spirit of the Mahakumbha, which saw an astonishing 60 crore pilgrims attend earlier this year.

This 12-track album is a massive collaborative effort, featuring over 50 talented artists from India and abroad. It masterfully blends live field recordings captured during the festival in Prayagraj, ancient mantras, and modern compositions. To create a deeply immersive and meditative experience for listeners, the album also incorporates special binaural beats. The complex project was guided by seven producers, including Bhatia, Jim "Kimo" West, and Devraj Sanyal.

The album boasts an impressive lineup, including Grammy winners and nominees like V Selvaganesh and Raja Kumari. Other notable Indian music figures such as Kanika Kapoor, Aditya Gadhvi, and Kala Ramnath also contributed their talents. The final mix was handled by two-time Grammy winner P A Deepak, ensuring a world-class sound.

Siddhant Bhatia called the Grammy nomination a powerful recognition of the Mahakumbha’s core message of peace and unity. "Inspired by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar... this nomination is a tribute to oneness," Bhatia stated. He emphasized that faith and music together have the power to "heal, unite, and uplift our world."

Devraj Sanyal of Universal Music Group called the nomination a "significant moment for the South Asian music community," highlighting music's power to cross boundaries. "Sounds of Kumbha" faces tough competition from global artists like Burna Boy, Shakti, and Anoushka Shankar. The 68th Annual Grammy Awards will be held in Los Angeles on February 1, 2026.
