Bhubaneswar, October 28: Narasingha Dora, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of B. Singhpur Police Station in Koraput district, was arrested by Odisha Vigilance today for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹40,000 from a complainant. The bribe was allegedly solicited by Dora in exchange for his assistance in a domestic violence case in which he was the Investigating Officer.

According to reports, ASI Dora threatened the complainant, insisting that unless the bribe of ₹40,000 was paid, he would take severe action against those involved in the case. Unable to meet the demand, the complainant reported the matter to the Odisha Vigilance, which led to a successful trap.

A vigilance team apprehended ASI Dora while he was accepting the bribe of ₹40,000 from the complainant. The entire sum of tainted money has been recovered and seized.

In addition, simultaneous searches are being carried out at two locations associated with ASI Dora, focusing on the Disproportionate Assets (DA) angle.

A case under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, has been registered against both ASI Dora. Investigations are currently ongoing.
