Talcher, Dec 25: Two persons were killed in a shooting incident late December 23rd night in Talcher, during an attempted theft near the pipeline road, Lingarakata. Police have arrested five people in connection with the double murder.
The deceased were identified as 17-year-old Dibyaranjan Parida and Janardan Naik.
The incident occurred near the pipeline road at Lingarakata when the group approached the stockyard premises, and security personnel, along with a gunman stationed at the site, noticed their movement. To prevent their entry, the gunman fired shots with a 12-bore firearm, and pellets struck the vital organs of two individuals, causing their immediate deaths.
Following the incident, police registered a case and launched an investigation, piecing together the events that led to the tragic deaths. The accused have been identified as: Ganeswar Sahoo (45), Abhimanyu Sahoo (35), Parshuram Parida (50), Kishan Manjhi (25), and Anandi Manjhi (48)
The police are continuing their investigation into the matter, and further details are awaited.
