Cuttack, Nov 5: Baliyatra 2025 will kick off today in Cuttack, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi scheduled to inaugurate Asia’s largest open-air trade fair. Running until November 12, the fair will feature over 1,600 stalls, attracting traders from across Odisha and beyond.

The event will showcase a wide array of products, including traditional handicrafts, spices, clothing, and items from local cottage industries. Visitors will also have the chance to enjoy local culinary delights such as Cuttack’s famous Dahibara and Thunkapuri.

Daily cultural performances, including traditional dances and music, will provide entertainment for attendees throughout the event. The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) will ensure that special parking arrangements are made, along with provisions for drinking water and other essential facilities.

For security, the Commissionerate Police will deploy 50 platoons of forces and senior officers to maintain safety. In addition, 20 control rooms will be set up, and the fair will be monitored with CCTV and drone surveillance. Traffic management and parking arrangements will also be in place to ensure a smooth experience for visitors.

The Baliyatra will also be celebrated on the Kuakhai River in Bhubaneswar, honoring Odisha’s maritime heritage.

This annual event, held on Kartika Purnima, will continue to be a major cultural and trade highlight in Odisha, attracting thousands of visitors from all over the region.
