Bhubaneswar, November 8: Susmita Panda, the widow of slain BJP leader and lawyer Pitabash Panda, has appealed to Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for personal security, expressing grave concerns for both her and her son's safety.

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday in Berhampur, Susmita shared her fears, stating that she had received life-threatening calls, some of which were directed at her son. The callers allegedly threatened him to withdraw the case and used abusive language, with remarks purportedly supporting Bikram Panda, the key suspect and former BJD MLA involved in the case.

“I am scared to stay at home, and my son is terrified as well. We have full faith in the police investigation, but I urge the authorities not to release the accused from custody,” said Susmita, visibly distressed.

She went on to express shock over the alleged involvement of Bikram Panda, who had previously visited their home to offer condolences following Pitabash’s death. This revelation has further deepened her concerns.

Susmita remains hopeful that the state government will take the necessary steps to protect her family and ensure a fair investigation into the tragic murder.

Pitabash Panda was tragically murdered on October 6, and multiple individuals, including Bikram Panda, have been arrested in connection with the crime.
