Bhubaneswar, December 23: The Divisional Committee Meeting of the Members of the Parliament (MPs) of the Sambalpur division under the East Coast Railway (ECoR) held at Sambalpur on Tuesday. Union Minister and Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan was unanimously nominated by the MPs as the Chairman of the Sambalpur Divisional Committee.

Members of Parliament from Odisha and Chhattisgarh attended the meeting and participated in detailed deliberations on railway development in the region. Bolangoir MP Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo, Bargarh MP Pradeep Purohit, Kalahandi MP Malvika Devi, Mahasamund MP Roop Kumari Choudhry attended the meeting.

The MPs appreciated the developmental initiatives undertaken by Sambalpur Railway Division and offered valuable suggestions for further strengthening railway infrastructure.

The discussion focused on enhancement of passenger amenities, cleanliness of trains and stations, increased train frequency, new railway lines, improved connectivity to remote areas, development of road over and under bridges, timely completion of ongoing projects, train stoppages, and the need for greater revenue and employment generation in the region.

ECoR General Manager Parmeshwar Funkwal, Sambalpur DRM Subash C. Chaudhary, Principal Heads of Departments of East Coast Railway, and senior officers of Sambalpur Division briefed the MPs and the Union Minister about the ongoing projects.
