Bhubaneswar, Nov 24: Tension flared late Sunday night after a violent group clash broke out at Biribandha village in the Sundarapada area on the outskirts of the capital. Several people sustained injuries in the incident. The injured were rescued and shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

According to sources, a final-night procession organized by the Singhbahini jatra troup was underway at the village square when an argument erupted between two groups shortly after the event concluded. The verbal dispute quickly escalated into a physical confrontation, leading to a large-scale clash. Members of one group allegedly entered the houses of the rival faction and assaulted them, resulting in multiple injuries.

Upon receiving information, Airfield Police rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation. Police have detained five individuals in connection with the clash and are currently interrogating them.

Further investigation is underway.
