Bhubaneswar, February 11:The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha, R. S. Gopalan, has instructed Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to ensure a zero-error voter list as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive in the state.

On Wednesday, CEO Gopalan chaired an important review meeting with BLOs from four Assembly constituencies in Bhubaneswar—Ekamra, Bhubaneswar Uttar, Bhubaneswar Madhya, and Jatni—at Ekamra Hall in the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters.

The session primarily focused on fortifying the ongoing SIR of electoral rolls, ensuring the creation of an accurate voter list for upcoming elections.

While addressing the BLOs and supervisors, CEO Gopalan emphasized the importance of a systematic approach to voter list revision. This includes adding eligible new voters, removing names of deceased or relocated individuals, verifying existing data, and conducting thorough house-to-house checks. He stressed that accuracy, transparency, and timeliness are crucial to upholding the integrity of the electoral process.

The meeting emphasized the need for thorough checks, including adding new voters, removing deceased or relocated names, and verifying existing data through house-to-house surveys. Additional Chief Electoral Officer Sushant Kumar Mishra urged 100% door-to-door verification and daily progress updates.

Local awareness camps will be organized with ASHA workers and corporators to encourage voters to verify their details using digital platforms like the Election Commission's Voter Helpline App and NVSP portal. BLOs were urged to carry out their duties with care and accountability to ensure an error-free electoral roll.
