Cuttack, Jan 6: The 33rd National Junior Fencing Championship was officially inaugurated at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack. The event was launched by the Minister of Sports, Suryavanshi Suraj. The six-day championship saw over 500 competitors from 23 states participating in both boys' and girls' categories.

Among the participants, Odisha has 24 competitors taking part in the prestigious event.

The Sports Minister emphasized that this competition would play a crucial role in the development of fencing in the country. He expressed hope that such events would help promote the sport and nurture young talent.

The championship will continue for six days, with athletes showcasing their skills and vying for top honors.
